I have ALWAYS been a red or hot pink kind of lip girl…. I love wearing reds everywhere; to weddings, date night, morning coffee… Honestly, when people say that bright lips are for the night only, I HIGHLY beg to differ. Bright lips are fab all day – every day.
Lately (maybe it’s the soon-to-be mom in me)… I have been LOVING NUDE LIPS. I seriously can’t get enough. I have even swapped out some of my old reds for new nudes. Below are my top five current favorites (from left to right): OFRA Long Lasting Lipstick in color “Mocha”, KIKO Luscious Cream Creamy Lipstick in color “502”, Pacifica Natural Lipstick in color “Nudie Red”, NYX Lip Suede in color “Soft Spoken” & Makeup Monsters Liquid Lipstick in color “Tender”.
I love liquid lipsticks because they tend to stay better on my lips. That being said, a lot of them can feel drying and make your lips look like they are about to shed their top layer of skin. I haven’t found any of these liquid lipsticks (OFRA, Makeup Monsters or NYX) to be super drying. NYX is actually my current FAVORITE out of all of them (and it’s SUPER reasonably priced at around $7). I like this one because it is the most moisturizing out of all of them and it LASTS.
OFRA & Makeup Monsters liquid lipsticks can tend to be a little drying if I don’t apply some sort of lip moisturizer beforehand. I will typically use either Vaseline or Carmax for about a half hour before applying and it seems to do the trick (just wipe off before applying the liquid lipsticks). Pacifica is a lipstick and it also feels a tad drying, BUT, it lasts forever (probably longer than you’d like LOL).
KIKO is my new jam. I love all of their nude lipsticks and they are so fab for layering! I have used the OFRA liquid lipstick in Mocha with the KIKO lipstick over it and love, love, LOVE the result. I found that layering the two also leads to longer lasting results. The best part? It doesn’t fade weird either! After a long day of wearing both together, I had an even fade.
I’m constantly on the look out for awesome nudes, comment below with some of your favorites!
