Baby Wearing With Solly

IMG_7910

I always knew I wanted to be a baby wearing mama! I love the idea of keeping my baby close while also being able to accomplish everything that I need to throughout the day.

I have quite a few devices to accomplish this feat, but my current favorite is my Solly Baby wrap. Why do I love this wrap? Let me explain….

When I was looking for a wrap, I wanted something that would be cool enough to wear in the summer, long enough to use for awhile and stylish so I didn’t look like bag.

When I asked on my social media sites for a great wrap, you guys delivered! Solly Baby won the vote by a landslide, and I can definitely see why! I got the new spring color Baltic wrap, the Natural & Grey Stripe wrap and a swaddle set in Baltic and Heather Grey.

Rian absolutely LOVES to be worn and swaddled. He feeds and sleeps much better when he is wrapped and it sure is easy enough to keep him happy!

I love the fabric that these items come in; they are so soft and lush. They are easy to wash and care for as well.

With the wrap, I simply watched the newborn tutorial video on the Solly Baby website and was able to wrap him pretty easily. The more I experiment with tension, the better I get at securing him in.

This morning I was able to cook and eat breakfast all while wearing Rian. As you can see in the picture to the left, he was VERY content and sleepy the entire time!

Rian is also super gassy. I have tried a number of things that seem to help him: altering my diet, pumping his legs to break up gas bubbles, feeding him with his head higher than his stomach, etc. I can’t ever get him to burp after feeding, but when I put him in his wrap, he lets a huge one rip immediately every time – it’s like magic! So, if you have a gassy baby as well, I would recommend trying out a wrap. This puts your baby in a natural position that helps to push against their belly and release the air. A win win!

This picture is just to show off my cute baby in his lush swaddle. As you can see, he is dreaming sweet milk dreams!

Rian’s Plane Nursery

IMG_0847

Rian Ford Valdez is named after his great grandfather who absolutely loved to fly. I thought it would only be fitting to design his nursery in a vintage plane theme.

I am obsessed with contrasting colors and a more modern vintage look. I love this nursery!

Budget was definitely in mind while I was searching for fun finds and thinking about how I wanted to put together Rian’s room. Below are the details which will include where I found certain pieces and (if I can remember) what I paid for them! =)

Jenny Lind crib – found on a buy/sell/trade FaceBook group for $50 and painted red.

The Great Pregnancy Debacle: Stroller Choice

If I have had one problem during this pregnancy, it has been deciding what stroller to choose. I have been ALL OVER THE PLACE and I swear it is a LIFE & DEATH decision. If one thing has given me complete anxiety, it is buying the wrong stroller. I am that person who sits and watches other families push around strollers. I like to see how they get along with it and how it has, or hasn’t, held up for them. (creepy, I know!)

I am pretty obsessive compulsive about strollers and have been to numerous stores to “test drive” certain models. Both my husband and my mom have been great with discussing and trying out strollers. I am also that person who decides on one brand, then hears a rave review about a new brand and MUST TRY IT OUT. I think I have “finally decided” on a stroller/car seat combo at least a handful of times so far.

Here are my “final picks” and the one I ULTIMATELY bought. 🙂

Britax B-Agile Stroller (this was my DEFINITE stroller the whole time… or so I thought)

Graco Click & Connect Travel System

Chicco Bravo Travel System

BOB Revolution SE Jogger

…… then I REALLY wanted a daily stroller with the BOB jogger ……

AND FINALLY…. Drumroll please…………..

I decided on the Baby Jogger City Mini GT!!!!!!!!

Now, you might be asking at this point, “Kelly, why did you and your husband decide on this one over every other brand you listed above?” Well, let me explain….

The BOB Revolution SE Jogger was such a hassle for me to haul around…. I feel like I am a rather capable human being and it just wasn’t as easy to fold up and throw in the back of a car like the City Mini is. I swear, the wheels on that thing nearly took Rian out a few times! 😉

The other travel systems didn’t meet all of my needs. Either the stroller didn’t push well, it was clunky or it just didn’t feel good. I was really starting to think that I would NEVER decide on anything! After some test driving, we crossed them all off the list.

I posted on Instagram and Facebook about what strollers all of you liked. It seemed that the majority liked either the Britax B-Agile, BOB Jogger or the Baby Jogger. I noticed that most people at Disneyland (one of my prime stalker stroller watching perches) used either the BOB or the Baby Jogger. Since the BOB was taken off my list already, I went to test drive the Baby Jogger and FELL IN LOVE.

Here are the features I really love about the Baby Jogger City Mini GT:

Baby Jogger City Mini GT –

-SUPER Easy to Push & Maneuver
-All-Terrain Wheels for ALL of My Walking Needs
-Adjustable Handle Bar for Me & Hubby
-Easy to Fold & Compact (it even auto locks when it folds!)
-Seat Reclines to Almost Flat
-UV 50+ Sun Canopy
-Lightweight & Easy to Haul

This stroller isn’t perfect though. I did have to settle with a smaller basket underneath and the fact that I can’t necessarily hang a diaper bag off the handle bar…. BUT, I don’t mind! (I bought myself an awesome Kate Spade cross body baby bag so hopefully that won’t be a problem anyway!)

So there you have it, my great debacle has come to an end…. now on to the next “what do I choose debate”! 🙂
