Austlen Entourage Stroller Review

YOU GUYS. If there ever was a Lamborghini of strollers, the Austlen Entourage would be it!

My jaw literally dropped with how easy this thing was to put together and then…. wait for it, HOW IT EXPANDS from a single stroller to either a double stroller or a stroller with an extra $150 a month storage unit on the back!

Seriously. I’m still in awe of this beautiful, leather trimmed creation. No words… but I’ll try.

So, like I said, it was an easy installation with a few wheels and 2 fenders to click in. That was about it. The stroller itself expands or folds with the slide of a few levers. It’s a seamless process that anyone (even older kids) can accomplish. The lever to expand this stroller into a double is on the back of the front seat. With a push of a button, you instantly have a double stroller. It’s quite magical. I think my jaw hit the floor (literally!) the first time I expanded it.

After you get past the awesome expansion, you move on to the beautiful (and removable!) fabric. Everything can be washed (YES!). The fabric is very luxurious feeling while also being durable. I feel super stylish with the beautiful leather trim and Rian just smiles when he rides in this… I swear, he must know style at 1.5 years old.

He loves the foot rest too. You can either keep it up, or push it down. Rian prefers to keep his feet up… typical (lol). And the seat is adjustable as well. You can choose from 5 different seat positions, going from upright to almost flat. (I’m sure this will come in handy if my son ever decides that a stroller nap is in his future.)

Here’s a fun fact: The Entourage holds up to 150lbs (GASP). So I can load this baby up with kids, sports equipment, beach gear, my two dogs, a husband and the neighbors kids. Or, I could take my extra large cargo bag and do a little shopping damage. It’s like having a Kohls cart built right into the back. I also love that you can zip up the bag to have it a bit smaller. This would be good for my Trader Joe’s runs.. (maybe it would make me stick to my list?)

My husband appreciates the adjustable handle bar. I can lower it for my medium stature and he can lift it to accomodate himself. Attached to the handle (but also removable), is a tote bag. This bag is AWESOME. It’s like having a diaper bag ready to go at all times! There are a million compartments, perfect for car keys, bottles, toys, etc.

This stroller has it all; from wheels that glide like butta to fabric as luxurious as it looks. What’s so great about this stroller though is that it’s just as functional as it is beautiful and stylish! I look forward to stacking luggage in it at the airport, loading up on future soccer balls and hockey sticks, and even attaching one of the many accessories they have available for two kids.

The Austlen Entourage is going to stay with my family for years to come! (I mean, look how happy my dad (AKA Pop) is walking with Rian! 🙂 … even if it was a tad bright outside LOL )

Contours Love3-in-1 Baby Carrier Review

The Contours Love3-in-1 Baby Carrier has gained a new devoted follower with this carrier. I had previously tried a few others I really, really liked; but honestly, nothing compares to this one!!

The material is SO SOFT. The entire carrier is soft, breathable, and molds perfectly to Rian and I. I couldn’t believe how comfortable, light weight and cool this carrier is! On the inside of the carrier, there is a super soft and comfy jersey material that gives me awesome feelings of having a non-chaffed son after a long hot day in southern California.

What else rocks about this thing?? NO AWKWARD BACK STRAP. Which means I don’t have to t-rex myself from behind to try to buckle a strap while Rian wiggles in front. All buckles are easily accessible from the front. You also don’t need an infant insert. SAY WHAT? Yep. No insert! Hello less to store and one less piece of the puzzle to mess around with. Contours Love Carrier fits newborns to toddlers, topping out at 30lbs.

Some other cool features…. huge pocket in the front for all of your “mom things” (plus an separate extra pocket too), super comfy padded shoulder straps, and it’s machine washable.

I love the front facing aspect of this carrier. It’s flexible enough to give my son wiggle room, but not so much that he feels unstable. With other front facing carriers, I felt like my son was being smothered. I don’t get that feeling at all with this. This carrier has even been deemed a “hip-healthy” product by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. WINNING.

I can’t rave enough about this carrier. Seriously. It is one you should DEFINITELY try out for yourself! And it’s a bargain at $99. Just Sayin… Contours Love is NUMBER 1!

Baby Skin Care – My Go To Products!

As a mom, it’s pretty heart wrenching to deal with anything that causes distress to your child. Allergies, reflux, skin rashes – it all just plain out sucks.

Rian has had his fair share of problems between the GERD, allergies and his random skin rashes. We’ve had hives, random dryness, cracked and bloody spots/creases and a slew of other horrible skin irritations. In fact, as I write this, Rian has little red dots all behind his ears, onto his neck and on the side of his cheek. (I am thinking it’s from a strawberry sensitivity, but honestly, I have no idea!)

I tried all of the home remedies from breast milk to coconut oil, as well as Earth Mama, Honest Co., Babyganics, Aveeno, Eucerine (and more) for his baths, but nothing worked. Rian’s skin always broke out and stayed consistently dry. Lotions were another long arduous task. I treed everything from the aforementioned brands and more. Once again, nothing worked. Everything in the drug store kept Rian’s skin the same or made it worse.

I think you get the drift in how exhausted I was trying to make Rian feel better.

Lost without a clue what to do, in came my mom. (Moms know best right?!) She mentioned that one of the girls she followed posted about a brand I had never heard of, Baby Mantra. I figured, what the hell? And ordered some the next day off of Amazon. I got the newborn basic bundle to try. It was the best bang for my buck and allowed me to try 3 of their products. I was really interested in the avocado oil. Avocados are chop full of healthy fats and vitamins… if anything would work, that had to!

BM

So here is my honest, four word testimony from a mom who just wants to share her story: This Stuff Saved Us.

Rian’s skin has been smooth, relatively bump and dryness free (darn food allergies and trying new things!) since we began using the Newborn set 6 months ago. We did try the 3-in-1 bubble bath a few months back and he had a small reaction to it. I still have it to try again later though.

I cannot stress how much I recommend this company (hello made in the USA!), their products and the quality you receive. Plus, their products are EWG verified, Non GMO, NPA certified and PETA certified too!

Give them a try if you are lost like I once was or share this with someone who might be struggling. Let’s get the word out and help some mom’s who don’t know what else to do!

Food For Baby Faves

I make Rian’s food at home. Why? Because I have the time and it’s wayyyyyyy cheaper. Plus, it allows me to know exactly what is in each jar (which is so important with allergy babies).

Here are some of my FAVORITE baby food products that have made life so much easier.

j&G

Jervis & George Glass Jars – I use to use the plastic baby bowls but my son eats like a grown man and I needed something a little bigger. Plus, I’m relatively crunchy and wanted to make sure he wasn’t getting all of the chemical omissions when heating his food up.

Insert the Jervis & George jars. Not only are they pretty dang cute, but they are awesome for travel and are even dishwasher safe! I fill a few of these puppies up for each feeding and store leftover in them as well. When Rian is a little older, I will use them for snacks. His dehydrated apple chips fit perfectly in the smaller ones.

pouches

Goodie Pouches – I don’t know about your kids, but Rian is OBSESSED with pouches. I mean, he flips out at Buy Buy Baby and I literally have to avoid the food aisle, otherwise, I’ll have to bust open 3-4 pouches for him to feed his little adorable piggy heart.

And I can’t blame him, it’s way easier for me to give him a pouch then spoon feed him when we are out. But let’s face it, those pouches are expensive. I went on Amazon (like I do for everything), and found these awesome reusable pouches for like $13! They work great, are dishwasher safe and are free of any of those pesky chemicals like BPA, Phthalate, Lead and PVC. Also, they hold more food and you can even write on the front (date them before freezing!). Overall, a real winning product!

bibs

Disposable Bibs – My grandma bought these for me from the 99 Cent Store. At first I was like, “Oh no grams, I got bibs for days!”….. then I went to Disneyland and used one of these and my life was changed forever.

Why yes, I would like to just throw away Rian’s messy bib instead of figuring out how to put it back in his diaper bag without spreading the food love to all of his extra goodies. Know a friend who’s expecting? Include these in your gift!

soap

Soap Silicone Molds – I use to use these awesome baby food freezer trays when Rian only ate a few ounces of food. They worked great and I still have them! But, as Rian grew and his appetite grew even bigger, I was tired of heating up a gazillion bricks of food at each meal.

I have a silicon tray for freezing my fat bombs, so I thought…. “hey, why not see is Amazon has bigger trays for Rian’s food???” And guess what, they did! Each portion is now around 2 ounces and I only have to heat up like 5 bricks at a time. Plus, it’s way easier to get those suckers out of the mold! Yay for making your own soap…. errrr, I mean baby food! 🙂

immersion

Handheld Immersion Blender – Typically, I use my Blenctec to make Rian’s food. But when the blender goes out, my trusty (kept in the cabinet for years) immersion blender saves the day. So, it doesn’t blend it up quite as well… and a few carrots always escape the blades, but it sure is nice to clean and store!

The Best Baby Bed for Reflux & GERD

As you all know by now, my son Rian was diagnosed with horrible GERD & MSPI. He has always had to sleep at an incline. This wasn’t much of problem when he was smaller because he fit PERFECTLY in a rock n’ play (similar to this one) that was handed down to us from my generous cousin.

The rock n’ play was great because it kept him in one spot and I didn’t have to worry about him rolling around. As mothers of GERD babies well know, when they are uncomfortable and their symptoms are acting up, they squirm… A LOT.

So, when Rian outgrew the rock n’ play, I had a freak out moment. What were we going to do?!

I bought a wedge for his pack n’ play and tried to barricade him in with a boppy, blankets & anything else I thought might keep him in one spot. Nothing worked. My little wiggle worm moved everywhere!!! He loves to push himself down to the bottom of beds so his feet are all scrunched up or hanging over.

Then, while thinking about what we could do to rectify the sleeping situation… my mother walks in with a gift from the heavens above – wrapped neatly in plastic and Buy Buy Baby garb. Lo and behold, friends, the Dexbaby DayDreamer Infant Sleep Seat.

Yup, this crazy looking velvety bed has been a lifesaver for Rian (and his parent’s) sleep!

At first, I thought the fabric would make my already hot baby even hotter – but he seems to do just fine! Plus it removes easily and can be thrown in the washer (WIN!).

The bed is very light and not too big. We put it in a pack n’ play to keep Rian more upright and off the ground since he isn’t in his own room yet (thanks to random vomiting and possibly choking). We still have lots of room for storage and his bed to fit perfectly in a standard sized Pn’P. I think it would also fit in a travel sized pack n’ play if you have a smaller space to fit.

Shopping Tip: ALWAYS use a coupon at Buy Buy Baby for 20% off – it saves you like $20 on this thing! 🙂

I also love that Rian can’t scoot himself all over – those harness straps really work! There is a pad that goes over the front part of the T strap… but if the velcro isn’t aligned perfectly, it snags his Aden & Anais blankets. He doesn’t care if it’s on or off, so for the sack of his A&A, we keep it off.

*For size reference, Rian is 5 months old and about 18 pounds.

So, there ya have it! Try it out, if it works AWESOME… if not, return it. If there is one thing motherhood teaches you reaaaaaal quick, it’s how to return a shit ton of baby products that don’t work for you 😛

Homemade Baby Food – Avocado

avo

After passing sweet potato, I wanted to try to get some really good healthy fat into Rian. That is why I chose avocado! Since he is still too little to eat it mashed, I made some puree for him.

He loves avocado! This is definitely a dad trait because the only time I care for it is in sushi and at 3am on my carnitas fries LOL. 😉

Making avocado baby food couldn’t be easier… simply take the flesh and blend it up with water. I am pretty conservative on the water because you can always add more. As the puree sits, it tends to thicken. Before each feeding, I just add another tablespoon or so and mix to get the right consistency.

Storage tip: if you aren’t freezing this into cubes right away… store in an air tight container with the avocado pit. It helps to keep the puree from browning 🙂

Happy eating! 🙂
