I used to be obsessed with shoes and jackets… now, I might just be even MORE obsessed with my blender….

I was lucky enough to receive a Blendtec Designer 725 Blender and Twister Jar as part of a FitFluential campaign. (Seriously, how LUCKY and GRATEFUL am I!?)

IMG_0340I’ve been a Ninja girl for awhile now, and honestly, I was pretty happy with it. Key word here is…. was. Now I know what I have been missing out on!! (My sister is probably tired of me calling her downstairs to watch everything I can do with this bad boy LOL!) This thing is AMAZING!

First off, you can just FEEL the quality in this product. Everything is heavy duty, well made and easy to use. And did I even mention the TOUCH SCREEN?! I mean HELLO, who has a touch screen on their blender?! —- Ok, totally fan girling my blender right now…. I’ll stop and get down to business! =)

So, what can the Designer 725 do?? … I am VERY glad you asked! It does literally, EVERYTHING! From straight blending, to juicing and even making frozen yogurt, the Blendtec Designer 725 can do it all. When you do choose a setting (smoothie, salsa, ice cream, whole juice, hot soup, or clean) – the blender controls count down the seconds until your food has reached the desired consistency. I thought this was really cool because I never know how long to let my food blend – I either don’t blend enough or blend waaaaaay too much. And when you’re done, the blender tells you congratulations. Really… lol! Who doesn’t love a little pat on the back for being healthy?!IMG_0350

With Blendtec’s SmartBlend Technology, loading errors, overheating, and air pockets are caught early so there’s no exploding, unwanted chunks, etc. with your final product! I tested this out on some kale.. and YUP, no chunks in my smoothie! There is NOTHING worse than a chunky kale smoothie….. GROSS.

By the way, did you notice one of the I said one of the settings is CLEAN? Yeah, thats, right…. it even cleans itself! I tested this out because I really didn’t think it would work but…. it worked great! Check it out below…. all you need is a drop of soap and a cup of hot water!

cleanCan you see in the first photo, it says “Eat well, Blend well” and counts how many blends I have done? Well, what is really neat is that each blend gets you reward points towards recipe books, gift cards, kitchen utensils, jar discounts and more! So, just using your blender gets you MORE free and discounted product! I love this feature as I am typically pretty tight with my money (call it stingy lol).

Honestly, I could go ON and ON about how cool this blender is (ask my friends and family…. a lot of them have been called and texted about why they should purchase this appliance!)… I will save you the extra reading and give you an AWESOME recipe I created JUST to use this blender LOL!

I decided I wanted a soup for the “season” (which is really 80 degrees in So CA, but some of you actually have a winter….) – so I came up with a Hearty Butternut Squash Soup with lots of garlic, chicken, kale and cranberries.

Ingredients:

1 Package chopped butternut squash or 1 whole squash
1 head of cauliflower, chopped
2 chicken breasts, chopped
1 head of kale, washed and chopped fine
2 heads of garlic
2 cups of chicken broth
2 cups of water
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 sprig of fresh rosemary
1/2 cup dried cranberries
Chili powder, black pepper, garlic powder, dried rosemary, red pepper flake, salt, and garlic salt to taste

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. On a baking sheet, toss the chopped butternut squash and cauliflower with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and dried rosemary. Bake in oven until tender, about 30 minutes. On a separate and sprayed baking sheet, lay the chicken pieces in a single layer. Sprinkle with a tablespoon of fresh chopped rosemary and garlic salt. Bake until cooked thoroughly, about 35-40 minutes depending on the size of your pieces.

Slice one head of garlic and wrap in foil. Add the garlic to the oven as well and remove when the chicken is done. Garlic should be roasted and easy to squeeze out of the skin. While the chicken, garlic and vegetables are baking, add the other tablespoon of olive oil to a sauté pan. Chop the other head of garlic and sauté along with the red pepper flake for about 3 minutes in a large sauté pan. Add the finely chopped kale and cook through, stirring frequently.

When the vegetables are done, add them to your blender with 2 cups of chicken stock and the roasted head of garlic and blend until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a large pot or dutch oven. Add the sautéed kale and chicken to the soup. Thin the soup as needed with the water. My soup was thick enough that I needed to use the whole 2 cups of water to get the right consistency. (You might need to add more or less depending on how thick you want it.) Let the flavors meld together until you are ready to serve. Add the cranberries at the end and stir.

This makes a large pot of soup… I would say between 7-10 servings depending on serving size.
